PRACTICAL GUIDE
How to read a PDF aloud on Android
Loa turns documents with selectable text into continuous narration using the voices installed on your Android device. Your file stays on the device while you read, listen, take notes, and resume where you stopped.
Step by step
- 01
Import the document
Open Loa, tap import, and choose a text-based PDF in the Android file picker. EPUB, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, HTML, RTF, and ODT are supported too.
- 02
Check the language
Choose the document language so the text-to-speech engine uses the right pronunciation. Available voices depend on your device.
- 03
Start reading aloud
Open the document and use the playback controls. Pause, skip forward or back, and change speed without losing your place.
- 04
Organize and continue later
Progress, bookmarks, and notes stay connected to your local library so you can resume whenever you want.
The type of PDF matters
Narration requires a PDF with selectable text. Files made only from photos or scanned pages normally need OCR before they are imported.
Loa does not guess text from an image. This avoids inaccurate results and makes it clear when a file needs a text-recognition tool first.
Voice, language, and offline use
Narration uses Android text to speech. You can install additional voices in system settings and choose a comfortable option for each language.
Imported documents can be read without an internet connection. Some voices require their language pack to be downloaded in Android first.
Local and private reading
PDFs, extracted text, notes, bookmarks, and progress stay on this device. Loa does not send your document content to IsLogicDev servers.
Because the library is local, keep your original files safe. Clearing app data or uninstalling the app may remove information stored on the device.
Other documents Loa can read
The same reading, narration, notes, and progress flow works with common text formats:
- Text-based PDF
- EPUB
- DOCX
- TXT
- Markdown
- HTML
- RTF
- ODT
