How to listen to documents offline on Android
Loa can turn EPUB, DOCX, TXT, and other supported documents into audio with a voice installed on Android. Once the file is imported and the required voice is downloaded, reading continues without Wi‑Fi or mobile data.
Get ready before you go offline

Save the file on your device
Download or copy an EPUB, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, HTML, RTF, ODT, or text-based PDF to a folder available in the Android file picker.

Import it into Loa
Tap import, choose the document, and let Loa prepare it. The document content and extracted text remain stored locally on the device.

Download an offline voice
In Android text-to-speech settings, install a voice and language pack for the document. Menu names vary by device manufacturer.

Test without a network
Open the document, start narration, and briefly enable airplane mode. This confirms that both the file and voice are ready before travel or an offline study session.
Which formats work best?
EPUB suits reflowable books, DOCX works well for handouts and reports, and TXT or Markdown keeps simple text lightweight. HTML, RTF, and ODT are supported too. PDFs need selectable text; image-only scans require OCR first.
DRM-protected files or systems that prevent text extraction may not import. Use a copy you are entitled to access and keep the original as a backup.
What actually needs the internet?
Loa does not need to upload a document to narrate it. A connection may only be needed to install the app, obtain the file, download an Android voice, or use the web reader.
Once the document and voice are on the device, reading, progress, notes, and bookmarks work locally. A voice marked as online by Android can still require a connection, which is why an airplane-mode test helps.
Private, local storage
Document content, extracted text, notes, bookmarks, and reading position are not sent to IsLogicDev servers. Your library stays on the device.
Local storage also means you should keep backups: clearing app data or uninstalling the app may remove the local library.
Travel or study-session checklist
Before leaving your network, confirm:
- Document imported and opened at least once
- Correct document language selected
- Offline Android voice installed
- Narration tested in airplane mode
- Original file kept as a backup

Is my progress saved offline?
